Geoffrey R. Stone: When the Government Lies

The Department of Justice has proposed federal regulations that would authorize the United States government to lie to the American people. This sounds bad, but in truth it's a big step forward. In the past, the government would simply have lied, without announcing its intention to do so. This was certainly true, for example, during the administrations of Lyndon Johnson (Gulf of Tonkin), Richard Nixon (Watergate) and Ronald Reagan (Iran-Contra). The Obama administration, reflecting an admirable commitment to transparency, wants everyone to know it will lie.

Is what you are saying, just don't believe anything any candidate tells us? We ALL know that the present president is the Number One Liar on this Continent and it has been very disgusting. Had the people that voted for him in the first place had known ANYTHING about him being UnTruthful, he Never would have bought the WH in 2008. If he buys it again, the USA will never be what we loved before he bought it. Please everyone, VOTE, BUT know what you are voting for, look into the person's past, which we couldn't do about Obama because he paid millions of dollars keeping everything from us, as he is still trying to do. Guess he knows, IF WE KNOW, he would have to resign???????

    Dolly 1300905,

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Republicans are the biggest liars and hypocrites you would ever want to meet!!!  As you know, all politicians lie, just some are worse and more blatant about it than others (probably born liars from their mother's womb)!

Before you bash the President, remember that it is the Republicans who have shifted a greater tax burden to ordinary people (middle/low income), and have fought hard to maintain tax breaks, subsidies and loopholes to the WEALTHY and CORPORATE TYPES at our expense!  Just keep voting for the Republicans because they like suckers like you, who don't know anything about what's happening to ordinary people and our country, but love to spout crap and make them-selves feel better about being a total dunce!!!
